Artemis Fowl: Rogue Squadron is a Yr30 television movie produced and aired by CBS. It premiered on May 12, Yr30.

Originally drawn up as a concept pilot for a potential series to bridge the gap between the fourth and fifth films, it was eventually shortened to a 1 hour, 30 minutes movie due to potentially rising salaries and production costs. Although Michael Belsø was initially involved in the production, he eventually left due to differences in opinion with the producers, and was eventually replaced by Paul Howard. The timeline remained, but the film is regarded as non-canonical by fans and by the series creator, Michael Belsø.

Plot

Sometime after the rise of the Sith, the Galactic Empire set forth on dominating every part of the galaxy, including deep space, where the majority of the film takes place. The Starship Pegasus, part of the Rouge Squadron, is canvassing an unknown area in space when they are called in to answer a distress call to help out Starship Poseidon, which has been attacked by the Galactic Empire. The Pegasus arrives with the help of the Taurus, Pisces, and the Pathfinder, with the Horizon too far away from the battle to be of any immediate help. Pisces and Pathfinder are destroyed almost immediately, however, and the Taurus and Pisces are forced to retreat and rescue the survivors from the destroyed ships.

Just as the Pegasus is recovering from the attack, Stormtroopers mixed with the survivors of the destroyed ships invade the command center of the Pegasus and take control of the ship and attack the Taurus. The Taurus fights back, thinking that the captain had been overthrown and the Pegasus defected to the Empire, but the captain of the Pegasus, Jack Blair, sends out a message saying that they are being taken over and the attacks are not their own. The Taurus stops attacking the Pegasus, and resorts to defensive techniques to avoid attacking the Pegasus. However, Blair is caught sending a transmission and is sent to the brig. Blair escapes, though, but are quickly apprehended and sent down to a trash compactor along with two other prisoners in haste.

Meanwhile on the Taurus, there is heated debate as to whether or not to keep firing on the Pegasus or wait until the Horizon was on its way to the battle scene. It is later revealed that the captain of the Taurus, Marc Anders, is a jedi knight whose identity is under hiding from the rest of the world to avoid persecution from the Galactic Empire. Anders finds a way to board the Pegasus without alarming the rest of the Stormtroopers, and finds his way to the main bridge. He is stopped there, however, and surrenders to get in contact with the leader of the siege, General Braxton, second in command to the former General Grievous. Nobody knows that Anders is the captain of the Taurus or a jedi.

When Anders meets up with Braxton, Braxton discusses his new plan to take over the galaxy and eventually overthrow Darth Vader, but Anders quickly dismisses the idea and defends the Squadron's policies of peace and eternity for all. Anders then uses his Force powers to escape from the guards and tries to take over the bridge of the Pegasus again, this time using more of his Force powers. Anders eventually makes the Pegasus fire on more Empire reinforcements and manages to buy more time for the ailing Taurus and for the Horizon to arrive.

Meanwhile, Blair and the prisoners eventually escape from the trash compactor and manage to get their way into the bridge, allowing for Anders to hand over control to Blair. Anders then meets up with Braxton and engages in a lightsaber duel in the medical bay area. Braxton holds his own against Anders, but Anders gets shot by a stormtrooper and Braxton defeats Anders. Blair then takes control of the lightsaber and defeats Braxton. Confused, he finds out that Braxton had no Force powers in the first place, and Anders had only limited lightsaber training. Anders dies, and Blair eventually defeats the last of the Empire reinforcements, allowing for the Horizon to come in and rescue the remainder of the Rouge Squadron.
