Mark also talks about other cars such as the Chrysler Neon and the Mazda Tribute, but realizes that none of them were released in the current decade, so he awards the category to the Tesla "by default." He ranks the Tesla above the other two nominees since the Tesla was American made as opposed to the Rover and the i-Thrust, which were both "made in Britain."

Instead, the winners were determined by a general review done by test drivers and the editors. All the other awards done by Top Gear were retired.
